Nigerians Protest in Abuja over $9bn sanction against Nigeria by U.K Court

On Monday being September 2, 2019, a group of Protesters were seen at the U.K Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria carrying play cards with different insignia written. These play cards have insignia like ”$9bn judgment by U.k court is a fraudulent”, ”U.K is Nigeria’s Friend not enemy”,“international conspirators are against Nigeria”, “Boris Johnson, Call British Court to order,” and “Award will Ruin Nigeria.” amongst others.

It could be vividly remembered how Naija Gists and Gossips via ngg.ng, reported to Nigerians on August 17,2019, how a U.K court opened a $9bn suit against the Nigerian government.

This protest is chiefly anchored by the Coalition of Civil Society Group.

At the UK Embassy, the president of the group, Etuk Williams, and Secretary-General, Abubakar Ibrahim, described the award as a travesty of justice, and disrespect to the sovereignty of the Nigerian government.

As the protest lingers, all within an hour, the Protesters group leader handed over a letter to an official to deliver their messages to the U.K government, after which they continue the protest and proceeded to the Irish Embassy in  Maitama, Abuja.
