Once upon a time, international artiste, R.Kelly used to be one of the most popular singers in the world for his rich and lyrically blessed contents but all of a sudden he fell from grace to grass.
R.Kelly has been embroiled in some paedophile allegations for some while now combined with sex trafficking and other raps in federal court in both the borough and Chicago.
The singer, who, has been held in police custody was on Wednesday denied bail by a Brooklyn judge despite his reputation.
His lawyers had sought permission for him to be freed while awaiting trial stating that R.Kelly doesn’t have any money to flee even if he wanted to.
However, the Brooklyn federal Judge Ann Donnelly in charge of the case denied the bail request on the grounds that Kelly is accused of committing crimes involving “very young girls,” his finances are “murky, to say the least” and the proposed home detention “certainly would do nothing to deter him” from intimidating witnesses.
The trial of the singer will start on May 18, 2020 and is expected to last about three weeks, according to the Judge.
