Mr Jacob Zuma who served as South Africa’s Fourth President from 2009 till he resigned on 14 February 2018 will face trial on October 15, 2019. This comes after a South African High Court denied him a permanent stay of prosecution on 11 October, 2019.
This trial comes shortly after he was alleged of diverting over $2.5bn meant for procuring arms for security purposes. Mr Zuma however is facing a 16 count charges bothering on fraud, racketeering and money laundering relating to a deal to buy 30 billion rand of European military hardware for South Africa’s Armed Forces in the late 90s.
All these charges has however been denied by the ex-president and claimed he is a victim of political vengeance.
