According to latest reports, a Kenyan national identified as Eliud Kipchoge has won the race to be called the 1st man to ever complete a marathon under two hours.
This took place today in the Austrian capital of Vienna, where the 34-year-old ran the 26.2 miles in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 40 seconds at Vienna’s Prater-Hauptallee (main avenue.)
However, it remains unknown if the milestone would count as a world record, this is because reports made it known that Ineos hasn’t even submitted a request to the IAAF for the attempt to be officially ratified.
But the whole of Africa have been excited by the new feat.
“I am the happiest man,” Kipchoge said following the end of the unofficial two-hour marathon, he added that he hopes to have inspired many that “no human is limited.”
