On September 14, a kidnap incident took place at a supermarket in Asokoro, Abuja leading to the kidnapping of Miss Aisha Umar, a daughter to a People’s Democratic Party Chieftain, Mr Dr. Umar Ardo and an uncle to Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
However, in September 15, she was eventually released by her abductors after a ransom of $15,000 was paid in bitcoin.
Since then, the Nigeria Police force and its investigative department have been on the matter trying to uncover those behind the criminal act.
In October 22, been on Tuesday, the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has arrested a young man 23 years old name: Saidu Abubakar whose phone number was used to make the calls. He has claimed to have sold his sim card for #1000 to an unknown lady.
Investigations and interrogations are ongoing to obtain useful information from him so that the kidnapping syndicates involved in this could be apprehended.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, has confirmed the arrest of Saidu Abubakar and said that the suspect was part of a syndicate and he promised to apprehend everyone involved.
