Okoi Obono – Obla who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s Former Aide and former Chairman, Special Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, fired by the Presidency in August, has been declared wanted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
ICPC were investigating because of series of petitions accusing him of abuse of office, falsification of admission records, living above his income and coll ection of gratification from suspects under his investigation. He was also said to have operated against some provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and extant laws of Nigeria had been allegedly violated by Mr. Obono-Obla.”
To allow further and well concrete investigation, he was removed from the office by president Buhari.
After many invitation by the anti-graft commission, the former presidential aide has however refused to turn up for further questioning. Every attempt to clamp him down by the Commission had proved abortive, which prompted the commission to seek the assistance of other law enforcement agencies such as the police and immigration.
On Monday been October 21, the Commission approached the Nigeria Immigration Service, in an attempt to ascertain or get any information if Mr Obla has left the country. It was however revealed that he has traveled to an undisclosed country through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport since August 17, after he was sacked on August 14, 2019. But yet to return to the country since then.
Since his where about cannot be ascertained and his failure to honour the ICPC’s invitations, for further and completion of investigation, he has however been declared ‘wanted’.
