The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja yesterday gave the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) until March 2020 to have a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke extradited to Nigeria.
This order was issued by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.
The former Petroleum Resources Minister, Deziani is facing a 13 count charges which borders on money laundering. The EFCC is further accusing the ex-ministrt of unlawfully taking into her possession the sums of $39.7million and N3.32billion with which she allegedly bought choice properties in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt in Rivers State, while she was in office as Petroleum Resources Minister under the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
In court on Tuesday, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu threatened to strike out the money laundering case should the EFCC fail to produce the defendant in court by March 2020.
