Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday approved the implementation of #35,000 New Minimum Wage for Lagos workers employed by Lagos state government.
This was made known in a circular by the state’s Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola on Wednesday. Okunola said Sanwo-Olu, in his determination to improve the welfare and wellbeing of public servants in Lagos State, had graciously approved the implementation of the new minimum wage with effect from 1st November, 2019.
The Head of Service of Lagos, Okunola further said, salaries have been delayed beyond the usual 23rd day every month for the month of November because the government want to effect the New Minimum Wage Payment.
The agreed New Minimum wage between the federal government and organized labour is #30,000.
This step taken by the Lagos state Governor is a landslide achievement which will improve the livelihood of Lagos government employees and also a step towards motivating them to be more committed to their responsibilities.
