Bolivia Govt. Sacks, Arrest Health Minister over Inflation of Ventilator Price

Sacked Bolivia Health Minister Purchase 170 Spanish COVID-19 Ventilators at an Over-inflated prices

The Bolivia government has on Wednesday sacked and arrested country’s Health Minister Marcelo Navas over alleged corruption charges which borders on purchase of COVID-19 ventilators at Over-inflated prices.

Marcelo Navas was removed from office to prevent him from interfering with an investigation into the purchase of 170 Spanish ventilators, government spokeswoman Isabel Fernandez was quoted as saying.

Navas has reportedly been replaced by his deputy, Eidy Roca.

The ventilators were reportedly vastly overpriced and found to be unsuitable for intensive care units.

The South American country has confirmed about 4,500 COVID-19 infections and around 190 deaths.
