Breaking: Former Chief Judge of FCT High Court who annulled June 12 1993 Election Dies in Bauchi

A former Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court Dahiru Saleh is dead.

Dahiru was the Judge who pronounced the annulment of the June 12 1993 Presidential election which Social Democratic Party(SDP) candidate, M.K.O Abiola defeated Bashir Tofa of National Republican Convention(NRC), by a wide margin but the exercise was cancelled ahead of the final announcement during the regime of Bagdamosi Babangida as Head of State.

The June 12,1993 annulled presidential election is on record as the most free, fair and credible election that has ever been conducted in Nigeria.

This annulment by Babangida and pronouncement by Dahiru led to serious protests, riots and crisis in Nigeria in 1993 with Nigerians agitating for Babangida to step down as Head of State.

And eventually Babangida stepped down and constituted an interim government in August 26, 1993 with Oloye Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan becoming Nigeria’s Interim President.
