The Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Orji Uzi Kalu, has returned to the plenary of the Senate on Tuesday morning to resume his duties as the Chief Whip of the Ahmed Lawan 9th Assembly.
Kalu had been in prison since December 2019 after he was convicted and sentenced to 12 years imprisonment over a corruption case of N7.1 billion, while serving as the governor of Abia State between 1999 and 2007.
OUK was granted freedom on May 8 2020 Friday, after a Supreme Court had ruled that he was wrongfully convicted. The Supreme Court ordered a re-trial.
The Senator who regained freedom has returned back to the senate plenary to resume his post as Chief Whip.
