Tonto Dikeh And The Story of the 5000 Families She is Feeding During Pandemic Lockdown
Nigerian, like the rest of the world is currently on the brink, grappling for survival from the cutting teeth of Covid-19, the global pandemic that has so far affected over 1, 490,984 lives and still counting. While the Federal Government in her efforts to forestall further spread of the viral infection in the country has ordered a total lockdown of Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States, more Nigerians in the low income strata have continued to wail at the decision for lack of money to Stuck up food stuffs in the house.
These public outcry has moved Nollywood goddess and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh through her foundation, in conjunction with Prosperity for Africa to strategically target 5,000 indigent Nigerians with the distribution of relief materials to help cushion the effect of the lockdown for them.
The items donated included 400 bags of 25kg, 50kg and 100kg Rice, 300 guns of tomatoes, 10,000 bags of pure water, 10,000 cartons of noodles and 10,000 loaves of bread.
Others are 130 bags of rice, 130 bags of beans, 2,000 multivitamin, 2,000 immune booster and 10,000 milk for infant babies.
Furthermore, as a follow up to this exercise, the highly decorated celebrity has also announced a rehash of same giving feat in Ghana, for April 10, 2020. This time, The Tonto Dikeh Foundation will be partnering Prosperity for Africa and Schwar Multimedia to feed 2000 poor Ghanaians.
Speaking on this initiative, Dikeh explains that “This initiative is aimed at helping the common man, and the Tonto Dikeh Foundation is committed to selfless acts in these perilous times.”
In the same giving attitude, Tonto through her son’s foundation called The Kids Advocacy and Development Foundation, popularly known as King Andre Dikeh Foundation has also pledged to assist 2,000 Nigerian kids while dealing with the ravaging pandemic.
King Andre’s foundation would be donating 2000 gift surprise bags to kids at different IDP camps across the country.
A Statement made public by the directorate of kings foundation reads, “Often times, children are overlooked in the face of global issues. It must remain imprinted in our hearts that children beam hope for the future; the are upcoming trailblazers, and deserve intensive care and support, and even more in the face of perils.
“In this regard, the King Andre Dikeh Foundation will be donating 2000 bags of hope to vulnerable kids(IDP CHILDREN). It’s a bag of surprises! This is our contribution to 2000 kids whose parent might not be fortunately placed to provide for them in the face of this pandemic,” the statement reads.
