The University of Ibadan management through the office of the Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi .O. Faluyi has on Wednesday made it known that Godwin Obaseki graduated from the University in 1979 with Second Class honours (Lower division).
Remember on Friday last week that Obaseki was alleged of certificate forgery by Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu. The trio sued governor Obaseki before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for forging his B.sc Certificate.
On Wednesday, the institution’s management said Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Classics. He matriculated in 1976 and graduated in 1979 according to Mrs Olubunmi O. Faluyi.
Faluyi citing records, stated that the governor graduated with a second class honours (lower division).
“Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Classics, she stated.
“Records of his Admission and Graduation are intact in the archives of the University.”
Oshiomhole, in Abuja at the inauguration of the APC’s screening and appeal committees for its members contesting governorship primary in Edo State, had expressed doubt over the authenticity of Obaseki’s UI certificate.
But the governor, through his spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, challenged Oshiomhole to go and confirm the authenticity of his certificate at the UI.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja as a result of this has ordered that the June 22 Edo state APC governorship Primary election be put on hold until the hearing and conclusion of this allegation against Mr Godwin Obaseki.
