Edo 2020: Materials on ground for PDP primary election, voting set to commence

All is now set for the commencement of the People Democratic Party, PDP, primaries in Edo State as party members will have the opportunity of electing the candidate to fly the party’s flag in the September governorship election later this year.

The candidates are Gideon Ikhine, Ogbeide-Ihama, Mr Kenneth Imasuagbon and Edo incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki who last week decamped to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The initial three governorship aspirants before Obaseki’s emergence, were Gideon Ikhine, Ogbeide-Ihama and Mr Kenneth Imasuagbon, have so far rebuffed pressures from leaders of the party for them to step down for Obaseki who formally defected to the party last Friday along with his deputy, Hon. Philip Shuaibu.

However, Gideon Ikhine has stepped down to support Obaseki.

The gubernatorial election is scheduled for September 19, 2020. Today, the PDP will have its flag-bearer.
