The media team of Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan led by Reno Omokri, ex-aide to the former President on New Media on Tuedays made a press release to sharply debunk the allegations or claims going round the waves that Goodluck Jonathan is decamping from the Peoples’ Democratic Party to the ruling All Peoples’ Congress.
This came as a result of Jonathan voting for the candidate of APC, David Lyon as governor of Bayelsa state in the November 16 election where David Lyon was eventually declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC). The ex- President and his family, were in jubilation when David Lyon was declared winner.
There are also reports of Jonathan hosting and welcoming APC’s chieftains in Bayelsa state who paid him a courtesy visit. Also there has been a reported fight between Governor Dickson and the ex-president.
Debunking the information about the ex-president’s decamping from the PDP to ruling APC, Reno Omokri who is the leader of the ex-president’s media team on his twitter handle wrote;
Reno Omokri said that “the Former President Goodluck Jonathan is a member of the PDP. Throughout his sojourn on Earth, he has been a member of only one political party. He has never even contemplated anything other than loyalty to his party.”
“Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is known for his stability and loyalty. These are character traits that have been lifelong companions of his. He is also an elder statesman and that role requires that he accepts all Nigerian citizens and all peoples of the world.”
“As a statesman and Chairman of GEJ Foundation, Goodluck Jonathan will receive people of goodwill who apply to pay him a courtesy visit, irrespective of political or religious leanings. Though a Christian, he receives Muslim groups and diverse visitors.”
“Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan intends to devote the rest of his life on Earth to building unity, and engendering opportunity for Nigerians and Africans and he has no desire, or reason to engage in partisan politics beyond being a loyal member of PDP.”
Reno Omokri concluded by saying, “Goodluck Ebele Jonathan being a member of PDP is institutional. In fact, it is more accurate to state that his eternal party is Nigeria, for which he reminds all Nigerians that they are brothers and sisters born from the womb of one Nigeria.”
