The mild evening serene on the highbrow area of Victoria Island greeted the esteemed guests that made their various ways from all parts of the country, to Lagos Oriental Hotel, the five star hotel venue of the grand finale of the highly frenzied Orente Beauty Pageant, on Sunday, September 1.
A production of Rollicking Entertainment, in it’s maiden edition, the palpable success of the recently held event, gave assurance that the future of the pageant holds diamonds in the sky.
Orente Beauty Pageant is an Afrocentric pageant with a bias for promoting the cultural values and ideologies of Yorubas’; geographically situated in the south-western part of Nigeria.
The pageant promoted the best of fashion and culture, an inseparable duo that is a celebrated way of life of Yoruba people that numbers not less than 40 million people, that is about 21% of the total population of Nigeria.
The well contested pageant drew over a hundred contestants from across Nigerian states – not necessarily from the southwest; but entrants must be conversant with the Yoruba culture.
From the over 100 hopefuls, 31 contestants made it into the boot camp where they were tutored, drilled and narrowed down to 19 finalists.
At the grand coronation of Miss Orente Beauty Pageant 2019, Tolulope Maha, was crowned the new queen ousting 18 others to clinch the crystal crown accompanied with other juicy benefits.
The beauty competed in the finale with pride and serenity, delivering an outstanding performance in every round, based on which an accomplished panel of jury pronounced her winner.
The queen, Maha, gets both in cash sum, and sundry benefits N5Million Naira worth of prizes, and also becomes the Charity Ambassador of the pageant.
Others who stood at the finale were Oluwaseyi Omodara; first runner up, Gift Olalekan was Second Runner up, Abisola Nojeem was third runner up, while Alice Kazeem was announced as Miss Congeniality.
Executive Producer of the pageant Princess Olukemi Egbeyode (IYA), expressed delight at the accomplishment of the girls and how within a short while, they were able to grasp the essential lessons taught them.
“I am delighted at how within a short while, we have been able to teach these young ladies some core values of the Yoruba culture. We brought instructors to the camp that taught them things they never knew about Yoruba tradition.
“More importantly, I am proud of all the girls, because they have displayed discipline and intelligence both on and off camp, to have grasped all the lessons within few days.
“I am confident that the winners would represent the interest of the organization very well,” IYA remarked.
