Osun Amotekun Channels Arrest of 17 Chinese For Illegal Mining

The Osun State Government on Sunday announced the arrest of 27 illegal miners in the state. Those apprehended include 17 Chinese nationals and 10 locals.

The arrest was confirmed by the Deputy Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Abdullahi Binuyo, who noted that no responsible government will fold its arms and watch its land being degraded by unauthorised persons.

According to reports, the arrest was executed by the recently inaugurated Osun State Security Taskforce (Amotekun) around Ilesa and Ife axis of the state.

The 17 Chinese are all men, along with 10 Osun state locals which includes a traditional ruler(Baale`).

The Osun state government has said they will all be charged and charges will circled around illegal mining, pollution and disobeying the Federal government’s COVID-19 stay at home or lockdown orders.
