Rivers Polls: Gov. Wike defeats Awara in 17 out of 19 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has resumed collation of results of the stalemated election in Rivers state.

INEC had started collation of results after suspending the March 9th elections in the state because of widespread violence recorded in most parts of the state.

The Rivers State Governorship election Collation ended yesterday with Governor Nyesom Wike of the People’s Democratic Party PDP leading with 426,279 collated votes in 15 LGAs out of 17.

Meanwhile, the major opposition AAC Gubernatorial candidate Biokpomabo Awara followed with 129,855 collated votes.

The collation resumed Wednesday with results from;

Returning Officer- Dr. Woke Godfrey Ngozi
No. of Wards -17
Registered voters- 600622

Wards – 13
Reg. Vote-74047
Accredited- 53056
AAC: 18,945
PDP: 32,172
SDP -201

Returning Officer- Dr. Stanley Edum
No. Of Ward – 17
Registered voters- 90578
Accredited- 19129
AAC: 5,071
PDP: 12,133

With the latest collation, Wike is now winning in 17 from results of 19 Local Government areas declared.

Collation has been suspended to continue by 3pm.
