Despite the #5 billion budgeted by the National Assembly for the procurement of cars for senators and members of House of Representatives coupled with the #3.5 billion to be expended on travels both local and foreign by President Buhari and VP Yemi Osinbajo in the 2020 budget, the President of the Nigerian Senate, Ahmed Lawan said that Nigeria is suffering from the problems of availability of revenue.
He said this on Monday at a convocation ceremony of the University of Benin/ National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (UNIBEN/ NILDS) Postgraduate Programmes.
As reported by the Nigeria guardian, “Today Nigeria is faced with the problem of availability of revenue,” Lawan said.
The Senate President went further to say that, “The time has come for National Assembly to continuously engage with revenue-generating agencies. We have to take the bull by the horn and look for our revenue wherever they are,” he added.
