As the second phase of easing of lockdown ends June 1, Secretary of Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha has said that State governments, Communities, Traditional rulers and religious leaders will be the ones to play key responsibility in the fight againt COVID-19.
Boss Mustapha who is also the Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 said the decision was due to the fact that Nigeria was currently experiencing community infection.
This decision and conclusion was disclosed after the COVID-19 taskforce members met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa on Sunday in Abuja.
Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Mustapha disclosed that the Federal Government will only provide supervision and coordination, going further.
He said: “The ownership of the next stage will be the responsibility of the states because we have gone into community transmission.”
