The Golden goals in life are achieved when women are treated like a Gold”- Vivian Sonny

Women are the driving force of the society. Empower a woman, and you have empowered the society, When you abuse a woman, you have abused the society.

Recently the air space have generated many controversial news on women abuse, assault and violation on women’s right.

The strength quotient of a generation lies in its ability to love and protect the women – Vivian Sonny.

The question is; where are we (women) supposed to run to for protection? The young women have began to question our safety. Has the society failed us as females ?

If the church, which is the “House of God” has been violated by the people who are supposed to be Christ ambassadors, and the men in power decide to assault young women because they have the power and body guards to protect them. Where else lies the protection for women?

How can they implement policies to protect the rights of the citizens? Definitely, not the ones that would protect women and children.

“It seems as if the society has failed us” – young women. We are afraid of what our female children will become. We are afraid of their future. We are afraid of their safety. We are afraid of who will become the next victim of molestation, assault, and sexual harrasment, early child marriage, neglect, and depression”

It is time for the women to be United, It is time for us to stand for the truth and protect dignity of womanhood. It is time for us to define our rights.

To be conscious of our environment. To know that, if we do not protect ourselves, our children, our girl child; No one would…

When a woman speaks up against abuse, the society has a way of shutting her up, forgetting that we are all born of a woman. We all have mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces, aunties, all are women yelling for protection.

Women! We have to learn to support and encourage each other, especially anyone who is courageous enough to speak up, rather than die in silence.

We need more intelligent women, that will contribute in decision making, that will safeguard the women, girl child, for a better society.

If we do not protect our country, Nigeria, as mothers; No one would.

If we do not stand for what is right, we will continue to witness abuses, assaults, rejections and suicides among women, children and youths in our country Nigeria.

The effects on the victims do not just affect their childhood. It can also impact on their adult lives too, casting a long shadow over their mental, physical and emotional health of the individual.

The Young Moms Support Initiative had been receiving thousands of heartbreaking messages of abuses, domestic violences, rapes, robbery, unemployment, depression, assaults against women and children a daily basis.

Parents need to go back to the drawing board, promote early child sex education and sensitization such as the PANTS Campaign, which guides parents on how to teach their children to stay safe from abuse.

We, call on the Federal Government and President Mohammad Buhari, who is our father to urgently step into this ugly trend and implement policies that would protect the rights of the women and the girl child in the Society.

Women should also be appointed in key positions, at all levels to enable them address issues affecting women and children in the country.

Young Moms Support Initiative is ready to partner with the federal government and relevant stakeholders in ensuring that women and children are protected for a better Nigeria.
