It is still Buhari’s government for the 160 million Nigerians. Buhari cannot run 160 million governments for all Nigerians. So, if it must be that one government, Buhari must be allowed to run it the way he feels it would work for Nigeria and Nigerians. He has promised to change Nigeria. He has promised to run a very responsible and disciplined government with suitable Nigerians and not with angels or saints. Saints don’t play politics in Nigeria. Buhari cannot get saints to work with in Nigeria. He would still have to choose the best from his political party, unless he wants to kill APC or run it into confusion. The people who has picked are among the best in his party. I am looking for the competence, experience, maturity and integrity in them. I am not looking for saints in them because there is not saints anywhere in Nigeria. There is even no saints among the senators that wants to screen them. Mr. Senate President himself can bear me withness. The Code of Conduct Bureau; EFCC and ICPC and the Nigerian Police can bear me witness. Majority of these people that wants to screen them also have that burden of fraud, corruption and other criminal charges against them. So, nobody should look for saints among the ministers Buhari has nominated. Buhari knew they were not angels when they were forming APC.
He knew they were not angels when they were contributing and working for the success of his election. If they were good enough during the elections to work with and for Buhari, then they musn’t be rejected now that they have all fought and won the PDP war. If it is technocrats Nigerians are looking for, the people he has picked are technocrats enough. There is nothing wrong in being a political technocrats. Buhari, as far as I know, has picked the best set of men from his party to help him, change, reposition and develop Nigeria. None of these people is standing trial in any court of law for criminal and corruption charges. So, all of them are free to be ministers.
If Saraki can be in the dock at the tribunal, and must still be the one that will screen the so-called expected ministerial nominee “saints”, then Buhari is in order. The people he has picked are people he and his party are okay with. They are the people he can trust. For the jobs. It is his government. He is the commander in Chief. It is his prerogative to choose who he wants to work with. Who else would he have chosen if not the same master and architect of the change revolution strategy and agenda.
These nominees are the ones who designed the change movement and the strategy adopted to uproot the almighty PDP. So, the best Buhari can do for Nigeria is to choose those who knows the liver and intestines of the change agenda and how to run it for the benefits of Nigeria. Yes! They are still the same known people we know, but they are experienced, competent and vibrant enough to work with Buhari. Buhari himself knows he must never fail Nigerians, so he chose those he can trust with the mandate.
And this is good for Nigeria and the survival of his party APC, because I believe he must have consulted widely with the leadership of the party before coming out with the list concerning the issue of including the Youths in his cabinet, I believe the list is not conclusive yet. I believe Mr. President will do what is right and expected from Nigerian youths. He knows where he would fix the youths in his government. But it is not compulsory that the youth must be the minister.
There are many other areas the Nigerian youths can work. The youths can work as special assistants; law makers, special advisers et cetra. Because experience and maturity matters in governing as a minister. A man that is still very young andd inexperienced might not be able to govern and control a federal ministry skillfully…
But if Mr. President thinks any youth is qualified and has all it takes to be a minister, it Is still within his prerogative for him to make the Nigerian youths happy. And I believe he will do what is right as his government progresses. Thanks.
